What is a domain?

A domain is a name on the internet (e.g. easyname.com) and can be used for addressing a website (https://www.easyname.com) or for e-mail addresses (support@easyname.com). Technically, a domain is the translation of an IP address (e.g. 77.244.243.2). This is a numeric code that computers need to communicate with other computers (for example, to communicate over the Internet). Each domain is unique in the world, as is the IP address itself, so that each content (e.g. a website) can be uniquely identified.
